Message from the District Administrator
July 9, 2020
Members of the California-Nevada-Hawaii Circle K district,
Some troubling posts were brought to our attention recently and we are in the process of gathering additional information. First, I want you to know that Kiwanis International has established 866-607-SAFE (7233), a confidential helpline to report any incident, situation or behavior that has or might put our student members at risk or in which someone feels unsafe. The helpline is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also e-mail youthprotection@kiwanis.org.
The Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis District along with Kiwanis International takes all issues of sexual harassment very seriously. The Circle K International Policy Code states that sexual harassment during Circle K events is considered “conduct unbecoming,” and further says, “Any individual receiving written notice, as provided in the applicable bylaws, shall be permitted to hear all evidence against him or her and be afforded the opportunity to provide evidence in his or her defense.” If you have personal knowledge of any incident of inappropriate conduct, please, please report it to me.
While we investigate and review these matters I, along with Governor Katherine, have begun plans to better equip the membership for safety and protection at future conferences and board meetings.
Your safety and well-being is my absolute priority along with your character and integrity. Should anyone have any questions or concerns you can reach me at cnhckimondo@gmail.com.
