Service Spotlight

“The tri-DCM was amazing in my eyes! Not only was there a heavy emphasis on fellowship, but the service aspect truly shined. There were three service events that all three of the tenants. Given that there were three ltgs, each one hosted a service event that correlated with a tenant they held dear. Katherine Hoang, the Citrus LTG hosted a card writing tabling, allowing Circle K’ers to express their gratitude for their Kiwanians (checkmark for Fellowship! ). Ryan Tan, the Foothill LTG hosted an event where we were able to create dog toys out of old t-shirts (checkmark for Service AND saving the environment! Talk about a double win 😉 ) and last, but not least we have Eddie Castillo, the Metro LTG who lead an event on how to create PTP dolls, but the twist was that everyone was in teams and certain pairs within teams could only do ONE step in the process of creating the dolls which encouraged communication in the activity ( and checkmark for Leadership! ). In the end, this tri-DCM was very enjoyable and memorable! A huge kudos to our lovely LTGs, give them a little Citrus Squeeze next time you see them!” -- Anne Thy Le, Orange Coast College CKI

"Mud Mania is an annual Celebration of Adobe at Rancho Los Cerritos where we supervised at many activities and stations so that kids can learn about adobe and have fun! At the event we first helped finish set up all the stations and the area for the kids to go to. From there we got acquainted with the friendly faces of the staff and other volunteers before it was time to open the ranch to the kids and parents. We worked at many stations where kids got to learn about the history of the local area and in general have fun! Stations varied from a fossil digging station where kids got to be archaeologists for the day to a pottery-making station where they made their own small pots or any creation they wanted. The Ronald McDonald House is a wonderful place that helps families have a home during some hard times in hospitals near by. With that, they need help around from making food or just making sure the area is a clean safe place for the kids and their families. So during our June DSP we we were able to go around the house and sanitize common areas, and I even received thanks from family members staying!" -- Gina Aguilar, Crafton Hills College CKI

"This weekend Fresno State CKI had the opportunity to assist Camp Keola prepare their campsite for the kids this summer!😊 We volunteered by raking up the pine needles around the cabins and trails to prevent forest fires.🏕🌲They were very grateful because they are opening it up this Monday!😍" -- Sam Bautista, Fresno State CKI
